What is GatherUK?

GatherUK is a free platform designed to help people create, discover, and join community groups and events across the UK. Whether you're interested in hobbies, social activities, learning, or volunteering, GatherUK makes it easy to connect with like-minded people in your area.

How do I join GatherUK?

Joining GatherUK is completely free! Simply create an account with your email address. Once registered, you can browse groups, RSVP to events, and start connecting with your community.

Is GatherUK free to use?

Yes! GatherUK is completely free for members to join groups, attend events, and connect with others. Group administrators are asked for a small monthly subscription (£5/month) to cover platform costs, but all features are available to members at no charge.

How do I find groups near me?

You can browse groups by location using our Group Directory. Search by city, postcode, or interest to find groups that match what you're looking for. You can also see upcoming events from groups you're interested in on your dashboard.

Do I need to be 18 to use GatherUK?

Yes. GatherUK is for adults aged 18 and over. This helps ensure safety and compliance with our Terms of Use.

Creating & Managing Groups

How do I create a group?

Creating a group is easy! Once you're logged in, go to your dashboard and click "Create Group". You'll be asked to provide some basic information about your group, including its name, description, location, and interests. After creating your group, you'll become the Group Administrator.

What does it cost to run a group?

Group Administrators are asked for a small monthly subscription of £5 to help cover platform costs. This gives you access to all group management features, unlimited events, member management, and more. There are no additional fees or hidden costs.

Can I have multiple organisers for my group?

Yes! As a Group Administrator, you can assign Event Organisers to help manage specific events. Event Organisers can create and manage events, view RSVPs, and communicate with attendees, while you maintain overall control of the group.

How do I manage my group's events?

As a Group Administrator or Event Organiser, you can access your group's dashboard to create new events, manage RSVPs, send messages to attendees, and view analytics. You can also set up recurring events, manage waiting lists, and cancel or edit events as needed.

Events & RSVPs

How do I RSVP to an event?

Simply visit the event page and click the "RSVP" button. You can choose to RSVP "Yes" or "No". If an event has limited capacity and is full, you can join the waiting list and will be notified if a spot becomes available.

Can I change my RSVP?

Yes, you can change your RSVP at any time by visiting the event page and selecting a different option. If you were on the waiting list and a spot becomes available, changing your RSVP to "Yes" will move you to the confirmed attendees list.

What happens if an event is cancelled?

If an event organiser cancels an event, all attendees who RSVP'd "Yes" will automatically receive an email notification. You can also check your dashboard or the event page for cancellation notices.

What if I paid for an event and need a refund?

Refunds are handled directly by the event organiser. GatherUK is not a party to transactions between users and organisers. Please contact the organiser for refund requests.

Can I create recurring events?

Yes! When creating an event, you can set it to recur weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or on other schedules. You can also set an end date for the recurrence, so events will automatically stop after a certain date.

Privacy & Safety

Is my personal information safe?

Absolutely. We take your privacy seriously. Your email address and personal information are never shared with third parties. Group administrators and event organisers can only see the information you choose to make public in your profile. For more details, please see our Privacy Policy.

Does GatherUK vet events or organisers?

GatherUK does not vet or verify users, organisers, or events. Always use your judgment when attending events and contact the organiser directly if you have questions.

How do I report inappropriate content or behaviour?

If you encounter any inappropriate content or behaviour, please contact us immediately. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly. You can also block users if needed through your account settings.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time through your profile settings. Please note that if you're a Group Administrator, you'll need to transfer ownership of your group or delete it before you can delete your account. All your personal data will be permanently removed.

Technical Support

I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?

If you're having trouble logging in, try using the "Forgot Password" link on the login page. If you continue to experience issues, please contact us and we'll help you regain access to your account.

I'm not receiving email notifications. What's wrong?

First, check your spam/junk folder. If emails aren't there, verify your email address in your profile settings and ensure email notifications are enabled. If problems persist, contact us and we'll investigate.

Can I control which notifications I receive?

Yes. You can manage your email and notification preferences in your profile settings.

Can I use GatherUK on my mobile device?

Yes! GatherUK is fully responsive and works great on mobile devices, tablets, and desktop computers. You can browse groups, RSVP to events, and manage your account from any device with an internet connection.
